Marvelous Maverick
Today Morgan was the Marvelous Maverick for her class! One child from each class is recognized every few weeks at a little assembly they have at the start of the day. In the spring Morgan's class will be able to do the presentation at one of these, right now the older kids are doing it. She has been SO excited to be the Marvelous Maverick and has been wondering when she would be chosen. The parents find out a couple days ahead of time so we can be sure we are there, but the kids don't know until their name is called. Last night she said (again) that she wanted to be the Marvelous Maverick, but this morning she mentioned that when she was chosen that she would be nervous to stand in front of everyone. Well, I guess she was right! She went to the front when her name was chosen, but didn't crack a smile and I could tell she was uncomfortable the whole time. When the assembly was over they all gather for a group picture with the principal in a different room. When she saw Chris and I for this, she lost it and started crying. It broke my heart! I think she was holding all her emotion and nervousness in before and had to let it out. So she was crying for all the group pics but this is her with Chris and I right before she went back to class. I'm sure her friends made her feel special after she went back to class and hopefully she could enjoy her special day in a less public setting!

Big Sis
Such an amazing big sister...(MOST of the time). Earlier this week Morgan made this hat at school while learning about Thanksgiving. Of course Carson wanted it the second we picked her up, so the first thing she did when we got home was make Carson one of his own.
And of course reading to Carson. She has always loved to do this, but it is even more adorable now that she is actually reading the books to him, instead of just pretending to know the words.

Carson
The past couple of weeks Carson has been talking more and more and if you will listen, will often have long, rambling/meaningful conversations with you. Whenever the kids say something super cute I always first think that I will have to try to remember to tell Chris later. And then I think, well that's not going to happen so I better write it down. Well, that never happens either! But today Carson was in rare form and I actually came home and wrote several things down that I thought were especially cute!
"Hey, I'm not called Jose, I'm called Carson" - after I said "No way Jose" to him about something.
"Wait, wait Mommy. We are talking to each others" - grabbing the book out of my hands before nap time.
"Mommy, you're my best friend" - hugging me before nap time.
"Morgan, don't pick at it!" - scolding Morgan while she was showing Chris a blister from the monkey bars.
"Morgan, I'm texting you!"- playing with Chris's old cell phone.
