Monster Truck

The monster truck show is in Dallas this weekend and we kept going back and forth about taking the kids...but considering in Carson's young life he has already been to one we decided to skip it. Instead, we opted for the more budget-friendly grocery store parking lot monster truck viewing. This is near the top of the list of things that I never imagined myself doing...prior to meeting Carson of course. Here are Carson and Morgan meeting Iron Warrior.

Florida

In January we went to Ft. Myers, FL to see Chris's family and to go to Disney World. I took almost 350 pictures! These are just of our time in Ft. Myers.

The weather wasn't perfect, but we still spent lots of time outside and enjoyed as much sun as we could.

Grandpa B. and Carson

Someone had built this sand castle on the beach where Chris's parents walk. Luckily Carson didn't knock it over.

Our smaller version.

I love these pictures from behind.

Even better when I catch them holding hands.

LOVE. At the moment.

Looking off the pier on a windy day.

Look at those cute little legs.

A huge sandbox for Carson! Of course he could have stayed here all day. I loved just sitting and watching him play.

Morgan's Birthday Party

Morgan had her birthday party the weekend before her actual birthday. She had it at a gymnastics place and invited a bunch of her girl friends. No boys (except Carson)! This is her cake for the party. It was as yummy as it was cute.

My pictures from the party were horrendous, but here is a cute action shot of Morgan.

I asked for a group shot, but not a totally corny one! But as least I got one of everyone looking.

Morgan opening presents after school on her birthday.

All of my boys watching.

Too cute.

Her cookie cake for our party at home. With her party on Sunday, her birthday on Tuesday and Valentine's Day squeezed in between, I think Morgan had a great celebration! Chris left work early on her birthday so we could open gifts, head out to dinner, play outside and come home for dessert. Fun day!

Morgan is 7!

Tomorrow Morgan will be 7 years and 1 week old. So I'm officially one week behind on posting about her birthday! Here she is just before her first birthday.

Christmas 2006, almost 3. Just before she became a big sister.

Halloween 2008, age 4 and 1/2.

Easter 2010, age 6.

January 2011, almost 7!
You are definitely growing into quite the big kid with your own big ideas (and attitude). You are an amazing big sister and a good friend. You really enjoy school and you like following the rules, while you're there anyway. You like to read and are really starting to love math. You love word and number puzzles and you still love art. You like to travel and are an old pro on an airplane. You can be a girly girl and you like (insist on) picking out what you wear. You are already teaching us about choosing our battles. You are almost always up for playing in the backyard with Carson and don't mind getting dirty. You guys have such an imagination when you're back there! At home you're learning about responsibility and you're a big helper. Even if you're not in the mood for us, you're always in the mood for Holden! We love you so much, Morgan!

Christmas

We don't have that many pictures from Christmas. I did tell myself to just enjoy the kids opening presents and not try to take pictures. As if I had a choice, really? It was chaos.

We went to a live nativity at our church in December, no pics from that. We celebrated with friends on Christmas Eve and Christmas night, no pics from that.

Milk and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer in the pic above. I think last year I said the cookies would be homemade this year. Well, there's always next year! The kids thought it was so nice of Santa to close the fireplace doors after he left so all the cold air didn't get in. Cute!

The kids with their stockings and laundry baskets to put all the goods in. Sad really...but it does contain the mess!

My little helper.

Carson and Holden got this awesome fire house (doll house for boys) from their aunts and uncle.

Could not get these rain boots off Holden for some time after he opened them!

Morgan and Holden.

You've seen on this blog before...Carson shouldn't skip nap. If he does, he may fall asleep in a box.

Surprise!

On Christmas day we surprised the kids with these cookies...telling them that we were going to Disney World in January. Pictures of that trip to come soon!

Holden and Daddy

Chris and his little boy. These were taken the week of Christmas. I think this is the second year that I've posted pictures of us playing in the leaves at Christmas time.

Marvelous Maverick

In December Morgan's first grade class performed at her school's Rise and Shine on a Friday morning. It is basically a little pep rally that classes take turns performing at and also one student from each class is recognized as a "Marvelous Maverick" for working hard, being a good student, etc.

Here is Morgan with friends from her class - Karsten, Avery and Ani.

Her class performed the Rudolph Rap and wore these cute antlers. Morgan and one of her best buds, Carson.

Morgan was the Marvelous Maverick for her class that day too! Here she is with her teacher Mrs. Young. Morgan loves her!

Rewind to Thanksgiving

Had to rewind back to Thanksgiving so that this was in my kids "blog books" some day! My brother, sister-in-law and their two kids came to visit us for Thanksgiving. They came earlier in the week and overlapped with my parents for a couple days who came on Thanksgiving day. The visit was a blast! Hopefully it is one of many future cousin visits and hopefully my other brother's family will be with us next time too!

So the pictures I ended up with aren't that great and really random, but priceless nonetheless. That may have been due to the stomach flu and food poisoning visiting multiple people during the week...Hmmm....really, did that have to happen with 11 people in this house? But we made the most of it. We had amazing weather for the first part of the visit so the kids spent a lot of time outside.

Here are Carson and Gracie in the sandbox. Not sure about Carson's smile here, but Gracie looks cute!

Morgan and Gracie cozy during some tv time. The two girls will have to stick together with four boy cousins!

I had to cut Morgan out of this picture because she wasn't dressed, but Milo's face was too great to not post. Uncle Eric had them jumping off the chair onto pillows below.
